Latvian capitol is the next stop for our team in the VTB United League schedule. Russian champions will face VEF in Riga.

The army men weren’t the frequent visitors in Riga after the USSR breakdown. The only official visit happened on January 13, 1993 for the Euroleague game against Broceni. The last time CSKA played in Riga on March 31 and April 1, 2001 in the NEBL quarterfinals against Ventspils.

The team had two practices after the visit to Belgrade. Coaches did not use much the Partizan game heroes on Friday. Instead those who don’t play much recently participated in 25-minute game against junior team.

“We respect the opponents a lot, they started the season well”, - CSKA head coach Ettore Messina said. “VEF demonstrates well-organized game so we have to play at our best to succeed. Besides we are happy to visit Riga after a long time and to play on the city’s beautiful arena.”

Unfortunately CSKA coaches had to take into account some recent losses. Evgeny Voronov (right hip adductor) was joined by Drew Nicholas (ankle sprained in Belgrade) and Zoran Erceg (soleus muscle of the right leg injured during the practice today). Alexander Gudumak was called up to join the team.
