Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar vs. CSKA: 54-59 (+5)
Ettore Messina, CSKA head coach:
First of all, I’d like to congratulate Lokomotiv-Kuban on an excellent season. They accomplished all their goals and we will see them in Euroleague next season. This tournament, the playoffs was one of the most difficult and most enjoyable in my career. As for the Finals, we played without our leading players – Teodosic, Kaun and, today, Khryapa. Plus, we had to start the playoffs immediately following the Euroleague Final Four. On the way to the title we defeated the EuroChallenge champions Krasnye Krylia, Euroleague Top 16 participant, Khimki Moscow Region, and Eurocup holders Lokomotiv-Kuban. This was one of the most difficult paths to a championship if you take all European leagues. This title is very important to me, our team and all of our fans. And I would like to thank our medical staff and especially my assistants who has become a part of the family for me. Today was also one sad moment. Theo Papaloukas, one of the best players in European basketball history finished his career. He brought a lot of jot to his teammates, coaches, fans. I would like to say 'thank you' to Theo.
