The first ever Russian clubs’ clash in Euroleague competition opens the Top 16 for our team. Red-blues flew to Krasnodar today.

It is going to be double away trip for the Army Men. After the game against Lokomotiv-Kuban the team stays for the night and departs to Riga in the morning to play VTB United League game on Sunday. 13 players went on the trip. Two Alexanders stayed in Moscow: Gudumak joined the junior team, Kaun twisted his ankle during the practice today and will undergo conservative rehabilitation.

“It will be a very difficult and important game to start the Top 16,” CSKA head coach Ettore Messina said. “We face the team with good shooters, a lot of talent and which is very well-coached by Evgeny Pashutin who was recently named the head coach of Russian National Team. The key for us to try to win this game will be to defend their perimeter threats and pick-n-rolls as well as to control the rebound.”
