The first ever official meeting of CSKA and Bayern (not counting football ones) will take place during the Week 5 of the Euroleague Top 16. Our team flew to Munich today.

Kyle Hines will be on the roster for the Army Men for the first time after ankle injury sustained in the game against Astana. The center (who is the only player on the team’s roster with experience of playing in Germany) participated in two practices with the team this week. Therefore the red-blue inactive list now contains only Sonny Weems who continues to rehab from back pains across the Atlantic. Juniors Alexander Gudumak and Valery Ershkov, who worked hard during the recent practices, also did not board Transaero Airlines aircraft in Moscow.

“We played a very good game against Real Madrid last week and we want to continue playing like this,” CSKA head coach Ettore Messina said. “We will face Bayern Munich which is having excellent season thanks to team basketball, aggressive defense and rebounding. They are the best rebounding team in Euroleague and they shoot the ball more than anyone else by gaining extra possessions. This is why we have to prepare really well, especially in moving the ball against tough defense by Bayern. We have to demonstrate excellent basketball to get the win in Munich.”
