Our team has a number of historic games this season. One of them will take place this Saturday, when our team will face Krasny Oktyabr in Volgograd.
During the time after previous Army Men visit to the city on Volga River the whole generation of basketball fans was born, grew up and went to the senior school. Krasny Oktyabr was founded in 2012, before that the city had the club called Aquarius which withdrawn from the Russian League in 1998. Russian Cup bracket allowed CSKA to visit Volgograd 5 weeks earlier when it was supposed by the VTB League schedule.
“Krasny Oktyabr is a good team which demonstrates aggressive and high-scoring basketball,” CSKA head coach Ettore Messina said. “It is important for us to get Sonny Weems back into rhythm and we have to play without Kyle Hines again. We had some quality practices this week and we are ready to fight. We really care about Russian Cup and we will try hard to go to the next round.”
After the game with Tsmoki Minsk the red-blues had two days off and they got back to practices on Wednesday. Sonny Weems joined the team after having a therapy on his back. At the same time Kyle Hines will miss the trip to rest before the deciding stage of the Euroleague Top 16.
