Practice day for Our Home

The program of One Team project continues. Last week CSKA organized a practice day for children from Our Home social center.

Head coach of special practice was Sergey Tarakanov, the chairman of the Board of CSKA Veterans and One Team Ambassador. CSKA was also represented with junior team players Valery Yershkov, Anton Astapkovich, Yuriy Karpenko and Nikita Staratelev. This time Army Team hosted 14-year old boys and girls. Yershkov started practice with warm up. After that children separated into two groups for basketball exercises.

First contest for schoolchildren was to put the ball into basket starting from the middle of the court using just passes but not dribbles. Kids understood that it’s impossible to do that with their power and height. So they made a chain and moved the ball to the basket with the passes and hit the shots. In second drill they needed to shoot over the CSKA player. For the first several times they just got a lot of blocked shots. Then Sergey Tarakanov noticed that it’s going to be easier to overplay the guard in pairs. Although the kids were really brave in their tries to beat tall guard face to face.

As a result boys and girls charged lots of energy and enthusiasm. In the end of a practice Sergey Tarakanov told children how it’s important to go in for sports and keep fit. Kids in turn did not want to go home so fast and continued competing with CSKA veteran in shooting.
