The Club’s Board named Dimitris Itoudis, 43, as the head coach of our team. Greek specialist signed 2-year contract. The Board headed by Sergey Ivanov considered the list of candidates to take over CSKA and chose Itoudis.

Despite the short period of work as the head coach the Army Men newcomer is regarded as one of the most promising European coaches. Itoudis spent most part of his career (13 years, 1999-2012) as the first assistant to Zeljko Obradovic in Panathinaikos where he was in charge for majority of the questions connected to tactical preparation of the team. Dimitris co-authored in 5 PAO wins in Euroleague, 11 in Greek League and 7 Greek Cups. His resume contains degrees of Zagreb University in basketball and physical education as well as perfect English, Serbian and Croatian.

Itoudis signed 3-year contract with Banvit before the start of the previous season. Under his guidance little-known team from Bandirma won Turkish regular championship, beat all the favorites on its way, made it to the playoffs semifinal and Eurocup Top 32.

Andrey Vatutin, CSKA President:
We know Dimitris for a long time, we follow his career closely, we know about his talent, knowledge, personal qualities, experience and patience in self-development. During our talks and interview he bought us out with his huge desire, fresh ideas, positive approach which we need badly in our everyday work, player selection principles and game direction style. I am sure that the new head coach will breathe a fresh spirit into our team, that he will find a common language both with veteran and young players, that he will build winning and confident team. Also I would like to thank Banvit management which met Itoudis’ desire to head one of the most famous teams in Europe.

Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:
I am proud to be in Moscow, to wear CSKA logo on my shirt. The only thing I can promise is that we will work hard and try to do our best.

Andrey Vatutin and Dimitris Itoudis press-conference will take place in USH CSKA conference hall on June 20, 2 pm Moscow time.

The press-conference will be streamed live on club’s YouTube channel.
