Center Alexander Kaun leaves our team upon expiration of his contract.

Sasha joined our team in 2008 right after winning the NCAA title with Kansas University and played for CSKA throughout all his pro career. The player co-authored in 7 Red-Blues Russian League victories, 5 VTB League titles and 1 Russian Cup. Kaun played in 369 games for our team (251 starts), averaging 8.3 points (68.4% FG), 3.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.8 blocked shots in 17.6 minutes. He was awarded as VTB League Best Defensive Player in 2014. The center finished European part of his career as the Euroleague all-time leader in 2-point shots’ percentage (70.2%).

Andrey Vatutin, CSKA Moscow President:
I remember perfectly how I called Sasha to Americe 7 years ago and invited him to come. After that he became true CSKA symbol – strong, wise, reliable player, probably one of the strongest in Europe. It will be extremely difficult to replace him as a player and authoritative, rational person. Definitely we had hopes that he will change his mind. During our season closing party I reminded him of my call and said that now it’s his turn to call from overseas. Hopefully Sasha will miss European basketball.
