The game between CSKA and Utah Jazz postponed to 2005

Today the senior vice-president of NBA Andrew Messick in his letter to CEO of PBC CSKA Sergey Kushchenko informed that the game between CSKA and Utah Jazz will be postponed to 2005. Messick said:

It is with sadness that I must write this letter. We have watched recent events in Russia with disbelief. Our thoughts are with Russian people during these difficult times. It light of unstable situation in Russia we have to postpone the game between CSKA and Utah Jazz. We would like to speak with you about alternatives to playing the game either in 2005 or outside of Russia.

The commissioner of NBA David Stern also has commented the situation:

We are saddened that it will not be possible for the Jazz to play CSKA Moscow next month. We have been impressed with the professionalism of CSKA President Alexander Gomelsky, CEO Sergey Kushchenko and the entire CSKA organization both on and off the court and are confident that the game would have been a great success.

Most importantly, I would like to express my deepest condolences for what the Russian people have endured in recent weeks. Our thoughts remain with them.
