Multiple injuries left our team with almost no frontline. Therefore two centers joined CSKA during practices…

On Monday, when our team got back from Turkey, Eurobasket heroes Nando De Colo and Milos Teodosic appeared in USH CSKA. The coaching staff conducted the practice for them inviting also juniors Anton Astapkovich, Mikhail Kulagin, Mikhail Maleyko and Alexander Gavrilov. Gavrilov got back to CSKA-2 on the next day. The roster has voids in front line.

It should be reminded that the Red-Blues got from Turkish stage of the preseason with unprecedented losses. The most unfortunate was Joel Freeland’s injury: the center was almost ready to get back after the previous muscle damage but received the new one and now he is out for a long time. Victor Khryapa is still practicing individually. Demetris Nichols and Pavel Korobkov got strong hits during the tournament in Istanbul. So CSKA is without four “bigs” at a time: the Muscovites finished the Sunday game against Banvit with Nikita Kurbanov and Anton Astapkovich at 4- and 5-spots.

The team needs tall players right now to use them during the practices – otherwise Andrey Vorontsevich and Kyle Hines will be overloaded. Therefore the coaches called for a tryouts two centers. First, former Army Man Anatoly Kashirov (28 y.o., 215 cm) played for Tubingen past two seasons and now recovers after shoulder surgery. Second, Ivan Lazarev (24 y.o., 210 cm) played for Zenit and Ryazan last year.
