Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:
I would like to congratulate my team on the effort. The third place might not get you a medal, but it’s a reward for the team for the hard work. Third place is better than fourth. I would like to mention the guys who played in their first Final Fours and scored points. Semen Antonov, Mikhail Kulagin and Joel Freeland. It was a big celebration when Mikhail scored that basket. It showed that the team is united.
Semen Antonov, CSKA Moscow forward:
Of course it’s not the expectations and emotions we wanted to feel on May, 21 after the Final Four. Unfortunately we lost the first game. The main thing is that we found a way to stay together as a team. I think we played well today and showed strong desire to win while Real Madrid did not. It was tough for Spanish guys too, but this game showed our unity. CSKA is a great team with a great history and traditions. Even the game for the third place was the pleasure to watch for the fans. I’m glad that we won today.
