The first spring clinic in the Boarding School of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation within the One Team, a joint social project of the EuroLeague and the clubs – its Global ambassador and CSKA Moscow captain Kyle Hines and the project manager Yakov Tarasov devoted to respect.

We would like to remind everyone, that the school is for the daughters of servicemen who serve in remote military garrisons, children coming from incomplete and large families, children of deceased servicemen and participants of military operations awarded with state awards for military duty.

The main tasks of clinic were not only to understand and comprehend what respect is, but also to understand how to use the human qualities of your teammates and rivals correctly.

To start, the Army men captain shared with the cadetesses the most emotional moments in life – winning the EuroLeague and, of course, the birth of his first child. The birth of his daughter, according to Kyle, forced him for the first time in life to shed tears of happiness. The girls told their stories too: about family, studies, sports achievements and pets. To share emotions, to respect opinions and feelings of other people – is an integral part of life for both an athlete and any person in general.

For example, if you know the pros and cons of another player’s character, you can use this knowledge for good on the court. The next exercise was devoted to this: participants were put into pairs and on the way to the basket they had to surpass two serious defensive obstacles – the mentors of the clinic who did not let them attack. Despite blocked shots from the best defender of Europe, cadetesses managed to beat the captain, using the advantages of the opponent against him: tried to outwit him, run quicker and other methods. Finally, the coaches held a game under the conditions of which after Kyle Hines’s pass, the participants had to voice a merit of another person participating in practice without mentioning his/her name.

In general, the clinic flew by in a blink of an eye. Girls did not let the captain go for a long time, taking autographs and photos. For their success in the future basketball games of the Moscow championship, the cadetesses asked Kyle to put his signature directly on their sneakers. Of course, it is also not the last meeting for the Army men, as the most interesting part of the season is ahead – the playoffs which the girls from the Boarding School will be able to watch from the stands of the arena.
