The Spanish basketball legend and the National Team captain joined CSKA in the summer of 2017 when he got back to Europe from the NBA. With CSKA Rodriguez has become EuroLeague champion, 2-time VTB United League champion, 2018 VTB League Final Four MVP and 2019 VTB League All-Star Game MVP.
In red and blue El Chacho played 124 games (60 starts), averaging 11.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.9 steals in 22.8 minutes, he made 52.3% of two-pointers, 40.9% three-pointers and 88.9% free throws.

From the first minutes of his arrival in Moscow Sergio started to prove how important is it to play for our team. As always during his pro career he was not just formal about his job, he put all his heart into it, he loved the club, teammates, fans. Every day, besides his great skills he was adding positive emotions on the floor and in the locker room. He is the person who is very difficult to be replaced on the floor and in means of team chemistry. I am thankful to Sergio that he accepted the challenge and joined CSKA two years ago. We completely understand that Chacho reached the stage of his life where the family interests become the priority number 1, this is why the club met his request and terminated the agreement. We sincerely wish Chacho luck and satisfaction from playing basketball on the next step of his career.

I also proud that with CSKA he became the first ever Spanish player to win EuroLeague outside of the country. I remember our first talk, he called me and expressed his will to play for us.
