Our team’s captain Kyle Hines is nominated to the list of candidates for the EuroLeague All-Decade Team.
As one of just three players since the Final Four era started in 1988 to lift four continental trophies, Kyle Hines is simply one of the biggest winners in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague history. A blue-collar, undersized center with great heart and determination, Hines debuted with Brose Bamberg in 2010, but soon joined Olympiacos Piraeus and then CSKA Moscow to make EuroLeague history.
With Olympiacos, Hines claimed the EuroLeague’s only back-to-back titles this decade. In 2012, his deflection as time expired sealed a 19-point comeback as Olympiacos beat CSKA Moscow on the season’s final shot. In 2013, Hines had a double-double against CSKA in the semifinals and, in another championship-game comeback, 12 points against Real Madrid. Since joining CSKA that summer, Hines has continued his Final Four streak to a record-tying eight seasons. In 2016, his 15 points helped CSKA top Fenerbahce Istanbul in overtime of their title game, and in 2019, Hines was CSKA’s defensive anchor in another victorious final against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS
- EuroLeague Champion 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019
- EuroLeague Best Defender 2015-16, 2017-18
- 2nd all-time in offensive rebounds (529)
- 3rd all-time in blocked shots (216)
- 7th all-time in total rebounds (1,192)
His latest title made Hines just the third player, after Dino Meneghin and Fausto Bargna, to win multiple EuroLeague crowns with different teams. Besides taking two Best Defender trophies, in 2016 and 2018, Hines ranks first this decade in offensive rebounds, second in blocks, third in total rebounds and fifth in PIR. Undersized? Hines is nothing less than the biggest success of the 2010s.
