Dynamo St.Petersburg vs CSKA: 81-84
CSKA had to play the game without Marcus Brown. There were two reasons of his absence. The player’s shoulder was slightly aching after yesterday practice. And because of that Dusan Ivkovic decided not to use the player in the game.
CSKA made a breakthrough in the beginning of the 4th quarter when the score turned from 72-51 to 72-69. But it took CSKA almost 7 minutes to cut down the final 3 points.
The Army club is still on the top of the Superleague.
CSKA head coach Dusan Ivkovic:
- It was a very tough game. It is a real David Blatt Archievement that for almost all the game long Dynamo was better as a team. And in general the success of the club from St.Petersburg this season is a result of the coach’s job. We had our own goals in this game. One of them was to let all the 11 players take part in the game. The end of the season is not going to be an easy walk for us so we received a good experience. I would like to thank all of my players for the game. We won tonight because of their passion and experience. But now we have to focus on our Top16 games. We are going to face Barcelona this Thirsday so we have a lot of job to be done before the game.
Dynamo St.Petersburg head coach David Blatt:
- We did a good job while preparing to the game. I am satisfied with my players tonight and I do not want to blame anyone. I think that there is a part of my fault in the loss. I had to change the Papaloukas defender in the last minute of the game. But I decided to leave McCarty on the court. I am happy of the fact we had a chance to win a game against such a rival. We really had an opportunity for a winning shot, but unfortunately we missed it. Another great thing about this game was the crowd at Yubileyni Sports Hall. The fans did not feel all the chairs in the hall for ages and I am happy we was a part of the performance. I wish CSKA good luck in the Euroleague. I think that they are the best team in Europe now. I even can not imagine how hard it is psychologically to prove that your team is the best in each and every game every week, every month.
