Yesterday the PBC CSKA management came to an agreement with the Greek club Olympiakos regarding the transfer of Russian national team center Aleksey Savrasenko to our club. Savrasenko has already signed a contract with PBC CSKA for one and a half years. Remember that at the beginning of the season Savrasenko was with the Piraeus club, but due to a conflict with the head coach he left Athens and has been working out on his own. After his departure from Olympiakos, one of the best defensive centers in Europe was looking to join Tau Ceramica, but Savrasenko preferred CSKA to the team from Vitoria. Savrasenko began practicing with CSKA a week ago in Yugoslavia.
“It was very nice for me to get an offer from CSKA,” says Savrasenko. “It didn’t take me long to think. I would like to thank CSKA president Aleksander Gomelsky, General Director Sergey Kushchenko and head coach Dusan Ivkovic for bringing me into the team.”
Upon receipt of the letter of release form the Greek Basketball Federation, which is expected shortly, Savrasenko will be announced on the CSKA roster for participation in the Russian Superleague. Regarding the Euroleague, according to league regulations, Aleksey cannot help his team until the beginning of the second round of the tournament.
