His name is known everywhere where the game of basketball exists. And now our office receives a great number of calls and faxes from all over the world from different people. His death is a great personal loss for me. Aleksandr Yakovlevich played a great role in my own life. He made a true member of the Army club. It is a goal for us to be worthy of the name of the great man, coach and manager.

- Aleksandr Gomelsky was one of the brightest minds in European basketball. His death is a great loss for us. And the only thing we can do now is to devote our upcoming season to the name of the great person.

As the GREAT person Aleksandr Yakovlevich had a lot of friends, partners, opponents, rivals and enemies. I hope all these people would be united and would support the beloved child of Gomelsky – CSKA basketball club. As for our, player’s side we would try to do our best to continue our winning traditions and to win the Euroleague as Aleksandr Yakovlevich used to.
