Today CSKA had a meeting with Khimki-2 that in some ways looked like a game, in some ways like a practice. On the one hand there were no official stats of the game, no final score – only by quarters. On the other hand there were referees who served the game, the playing time was divided into four quarters of 10 minutes and the teams put on a regular uniform, not the one used for practices.
- We had to give the players the opportunity to find theirselves in the situation close to the one we would have at the games, - says CSKA head coach Ettore Messina. – In order for them to feel the emulative spirit. We wanted the game to be served by the referees.
The coaching staff tried to let all the players of the current line up to step on the court excluding forwards Matjaz Smodis and David Vanterpool. Two other foreigners center David Andersen and guard Trajan Langdon and the veteran Sergey Panov also did not spend much time playing. The reason was that the young players had to have a chance to play too. There was a lot of rotations in the line up at the game. Vyaltsev, Kashirov, Korolev, Kolesnikov, Kurbanov, Shabalkin, Sheleketo, Zavoruev, Urazmanov – all of them had the opportunity to show their best before end of the first part of the preparations.
Tomorrow CSKA would have regular two practices at USK CSKA and the day after tomorrow the team leaves to Italy.
