Playing without seven players from the main rotation, head coach Dusan Ivkovic had to experiment with his team, which consisted of players from the second team and the first -team reserves. Nikolay Padius and Aleksey Ugolkov received the most playing time - 24 and 28 minutes respectively.
In the beginning, the interesting CSKA roster played well on both offense and defense. By the end of the first half the home team had a 19-point lead. But in the second quarter the teamwork began to lack. By the end of the third quarter and almost the entire fourth quarter the Army team defended only periodically, giving their opponents the chance to cut the lead and their head coach fits. In the end, however, CSKA nonetheless was able to pull out a victory by the smallest possible margin.
Playing for the Army team was one of the candidates to replace Darius Songaila - American Center Victor Alexander (1969, 208 cm, 120 kg).
