Aleksandr Koul: Everyone is trying to develop in the Euroleague

03.12.2002
The main opponent for CSKA newcomer Victor Alexander in the upcoming Euroleague game will be Belorussian center Aleksandr Koul.

“We have a tough game ahead of us," says Koul. "CSKA is the group leader and has some good big guys. We are the new guys in the Euroleague, and for us every match is really battle, though, of course, everyone is trying to develop."

- Why are there only 10 people on the Slask roster, when Euroleague rules allow teams to have 12?

I’m far away from the club’s politics, so I can only speculate. In Poland they try to take only those players who have a realistic chance of playing. In the entire basketball world there is a difficult financial situation, though maybe Russia is an exception. But in Slask they are saving every zloty.

- Why didn’t former CSKA guard Raymonds Miglinieks make the trip?

I don’t know if he’s recovered from his injury. For now it is difficult and painful for him to practice with the entire group. I hope that he’ll recover soon. It’s a lot easier to play with him on the floor.

- Have you already watched some game film of CSKA?

We’ve watched video, but only those games when Gatling was still playing. And as far as I know, another center has arrived to replace him. Garry Alexander?

- Actually it’s Victor Alexander.

Oh, then it’s not the person I was thinking of. They described his general characteristics to me. We’ll have to hope that that’s enough.
