FMP Zeleznik vs CSKA: 69-93

28.12.2002
Today in Belgrade the Moscow Army team easily beat the local team Zeleznik in a friendly game.

FMP Zeleznik vs CSKA: 69-93 (19-20, 14-28, 22-25, 14-20)

Zeleznik: Nikolic (16), Petrovic (12), Askravic (10), Plisnic (9), Zoroski (9), Freeman (4), Bratic (3), Pavlovic (2), Markovic (2), Popovic (2)

CSKA: Holden (16), Songaila (14), Chatzivrettas (13), Panov (13), Alexander (11), Padius (7), Bashminov (6), Monya (5), Z. Pashutin (4), V. Khryapa (2), Papaloukas (2), E. Pashutin (0)

The management of the Yugoslavian club made entrance to the game with CSKA free (their New Year’s present to their fans). But Zeleznik didn’t get a lot of support from the home crowd - the spectators came to the game with the obvious intention of relaxing. For that reason, the CSKA “cheerleaders,” consisting of the CSKA player’s families and coaches, out-cheered the Yugoslavian contingent easily.

Notable factors in this game were the return to the court of CSKA forward Darius Songaila who is recovering from an ankle injury (Darius was one of the most effective players in this game) and the game official Milovoe Iovcic, known to Russian fans from a Sapporta Cup game between UNIKS Kazan and the Turksih club Besiktas in November 2000 in which Ruslan Avleev was disqualified.

The next game between Zeleznik and CSKA will take place on Monday, December 30, and will be closed to spectators.
