Last weekend in London a seminar for officials and coaches was organized by the Euroleague.
Over the course of the event, possible rule changes were discussed. All seminar participants came to the conclusion that several changes are necessary, but only if they make basketball more exciting to watch and work to raise fan interest. True, there is one obstacle: Aside from the Euroleague, there are also FIBA tournaments, the NBA and national leagues.
Should changes be introduced only in the Euroleague, it may create problems for players, coaches and officials active in different leagues and tournaments. According to Euroleague general director Jordi Bertameau as quoted in an official Euroleague press release, the procedure itself for introducing rule changes should not take up as much time as in the past.
At the next such seminar, which will take place in Barcelona during the Euroleague Final Four (May 9-11), proposed changes will be discussed and decisions will be made regarding them.
