Avtodor vs CSKA: 57-102

The game promised to be a very interesting one. There were two reasons for that. The first one is the fact that just week ago Avtodor won a game against reigning Russian champion Ural Great in Perm. The second was the beginning of the game. It took American forward of Avtodor Korleone Young less then 90 seconds to score two three pointers and 2 free throws and to set the score at the 8-2 mark. It took CSKA almost two minutes to even the score. But when the Army club went ahead Avtodor coach Rimas Girskis took a time-out. It helped the club from Saratov a lot, the club took the lead once more but this time there was no worth-to-mention numbers, just – 19-18. By the way just after the time-out former CSKA forward Andrey Sheiko scored his first two points.

CSKA coach Dusan Ivkovic decided also to take a minute break with 2.41 to go in the quarter. And his team managed to win the first period – 25-23.

The situation changed completely in the second quarter. After a short period of time when Avtodor managed to keep being close to CSKA the difference began to grow. CSKA could score from any position and any kind of shots, Avtodor was stopped by CSKA defence. The team could not use the fast breaks any more. With two minutes to go in the second quarter the score was 51-33.

It is clear that Avtodor was not able to pull itself together after such a knock out. And it was just a matter of time for CSKA to win the game.

The next game CSKA – Avtodor will be held on Saturday. This time it is going to be a Russian Superleague game. The game starts earlier than any other official match this season – at 16.00.
