CSKA vs Samara 106-61

The game started two and a half hours earlier than usual. The reason is the tickets for the train to Samara of CSK VVS and of course the nation wide celebration of the 8th of March.

Early beginning spoiled the game a bit. Instead of taking the lead in a very first minute CSKA let the guard of CSK VVS Oleg Baranov score two three-pointers in a row. With 7.33 to go in the first quarter Aleksey Kiryanov added two more points for the club from Samara and Darius Songaila fouled him. This time CSKA head coach Dusan Ivkovic decided to take time-out. But it took CSKA rather long to get worth-to-mention lead. The mark of 10 points ahead was passed only in the second period after Sergey Monia shot with 4.10 to go to the half time break.

But still in the beginning of the second quarter Dusan Ivkovic let Aleksey Savrasenko and Evgeny Pashutin step on the court. Pashutin immediately received a foul but after that did his best to help the team. This help included good quality passes, spectacular steals and even several rebounds.

After the half-time break Nikos Chatzivrettas’ time started. The guard scored 12 out 24 points of CSKA in the period. It woke up his team. Alexander Bashminov who played at power forward in this game showed an increadible performance. His statistics is for sure worth to mention – 28 points (11 out of 11 field goals), 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course, he became the best scorer of the game.
