CSKA forward Matjaz Smodis signed new ‘3+1’ contract with CSKA. This means the player would stay in the club until at least the 2010/11 season.

Andrei Vatutin, CSKA CEO:

- We all had a chance to feel what Smodis means for CSKA this year. The comeback of the forward after the injury made the team integral. His ability to communicate with his teammates without words is the unique talent. What we say that CSKA is a very talented team we mean the merits like this. In the toughest moments of the season Smodis showed his leadership on and off the court.

Ettore Messina, CSKA head coach:

- I came to CSKA the same year with Matjaz and Trajan. It is a pleasure to work with the players like they are. They both played an important role in our teams. ANd I am happy we have a chance to continue working together.

Matjaz Smodis, CSKA forward:

- I am very happy to stay in Moscow. It would be stupid to leave the team right now, it is more important to be part of the team to continue success. I want to stay in the organization that proved to be one of the best in Europe. I worked hard to get on the pro level like this and I want to stay at the level as long as possible. I am happy my family supported me in my decision.
