New CSKA Will Meet PAOK First

CSKA senior and junior players continue their preseason preperations at a training camp in the Yugoslav city of Zlatibor. The players have been divided into two groups, each with their own regimen.

In the main group are guards J.R. Holden, Marcus Brown, Anton Yudin, Georgi Tsintsadze, Yegor Vyaltsev, Vasily Zavoruyev, forwards Sergei Panov, Nikita Shabalkin; and centers Mario Austin and Alexander Bashminov.

In the CSKA Reserves camp are guards Yevgeny Kolesnikov, Amiran Amirkhanov; forwards Valery Likhodei, Nikita Kurbanov, Igor Tkachenko, Alexander Fomin, Alexei Shmarin; and centers Dmitry Peresypkin, Anatoly Kashirov and Alexander Kurilenko.

Both groups are holding two practices per day. The first practice game for the army team is planned for Saturday, August 30. The opponent for the main group will be the Greek club PAOK, which is also holding a preseason camp in Zlatibor. The opponent for the CSKA junior team will be determined in the coming days.

After that, the army team will play several tournaments: Sept. 7-8 in Cacak (opponents: PAOK, Panathinaikos and one team from Serbia and Montenegro); Sept. 8-12 in Vrshatse. On Sept. 15 CSKA will return to Moscow, where national team players will join the team.

On Sept. 22 the army club is invited to a tournament in Novi Sad, where the organizers have brought in Barcelona and Unicaja from Spain, Panathinaikos from Greece, the Italian club Skipper and the Belgrade club Red Star. The final preseason test before the October for Dusan Ivkovic’s club will be the Vladimir Kondrashin and Alexander Belov Cup, which will be held in St. Petersburg from Sept.
