Tonight CSKA finished its long trip from Moscow to Siena where the team will play one of the most important games in Group H of Euroleague Top 16...
After getting on the bus near USH CSKA at 14.45 the team travelled for almost 11 hours. The flight to Bologna was delayed for an hour because of bad weather in the destination city. Upon the landing our team had a dinner in one of the city restaurants, after that CSKA travelled 200 more kilometers to Siena by bus. So the final destination was reached around midnight local time.
The Euroleague champions arrived for the game against Montepaschi with almost the best possible roster. Only Andrey Vorontsevich was left in Moscow. Zoran Planinic returned to the team practices and the coaches are hoping that he will help the team in the key games of the Top 16.
“Siena is one of the biggest favorites to win the Euroleague this year, - Ettore Messina said. Their strength is obvious – you should just look at the results in Italian league. So to win this game is very important for both teams. And the key will be defense and the ball movement.”
Both games of CSKA against Montepaschi will be played as a part of ‘46664 Days’, the campaign jointly organized by the Euroleague and Nelson Mandela anti-HIV/AIDS Foundation. During the pre-game presentations all the players will wear special T-shirts and during the game they will wear the tattoos reading ‘46664’ which was Mandela’s prisoner number.
