Our team’s forward Matjaz Smodis probably will not help the team until the end of the year. Back damage may require surgery for CSKA captain.

Following consultations held by our club in Israel, the surgery recommended by specialists. Decision on the treatment policy will be taken soon. In the case of the surgery Matjaz will be able to return to full practicing with the team in 3-4 months.

Evgeny Pashutin, CSKA Head Coach:

- Matjaz is one of our leaders, our captain. The situation is very complicated, it is clear that Smodis will be out for a few months. We wish him fast recovery. At the same time, we have a serious problem in the frontline due to a series of injuries, as Viktor Khryapa and Alexander Kaun also are undergoing a process of recovery, they need time to return to good shape, and we have only Dmitry Sokolov and Andrey Vorontsevich in rotation. We will try to strengthen the roster by bringing another big player – we already have a candidate and we are in the process of active negotiations.
