Transaero flight with familiar to CSKA number 9797 brought our team to Kaunas. The team will play the game of VTB Unified League against Zalgiris here on Sunday.

The charter flight could be named the government one: Russian Vice Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov decided to spend the weekend in Lithuania together with CSKA. Red and blue left snowy Moscow in full strength with exception of Smodis and Sokolov who continue their rehabilitation after injuries. Army team arrived to Kaunas at lunch time, had a rest in the hotel and went to practice at Sporto Halle.

“I am sure that CSKA and Zalgiris meeting will draw almost the same level of attention comparing to the legendary games at USSR Championship times, - CSKA head coach Evgeny Pashutin said. It was always difficult to play here, and modern Zalgiris plays very confident and aggressive on its court. We have found our rhythm, and our main task is to play accordingly to our plan. Its main part is to contain Watson and Begic who are dominating the glass. Watson who is a current Euroleague rebounds leader made it difficult for us in Moscow – Zalgiris got a number of second chances thanks to his work. Brown, Kalnietis and Salenga had a number of shots off offensive rebounds. So we will pay more attention to the fight on the glass and to defending Zalgiris’ leaders.”
