American center Courtney Sims (26 years, 211 cm) can be added to our team in coming year 2010. The player will join CSKA soon to pass the medical tests and to go through trial period.

Sims graduated from famous Michigan university basketball school in 2007. He went undrafted by NBA clubs and sporadically played for the clubs of the best league in the world, participating in 5 games (6 points, 6 rebounds in 24 minutes) for Indiana, Phoenix and New York. He played for D-league Iowa Energy in the end of 2007-08 season and beginning of 2008-09 season, becoming 2009 NBDL MVP. His stats in 32 games of 200809 season are 22.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocked shots. In October 2009 the center played in three preseason games for Atlanta Hawks but did not make the final roster.

Natalia Furaeva, CSKA Vice President:

“It is not a secret that we needed help on center position. It is difficult to improve the roster on this stage of the season and we think that Courtney can be a fair addition. He did not played a game past two months and, despite his good physical conditions we insisted on the trial period for Sims. We expect Courtney to join the team on December, 30th. The decision to carry the contract into effect will be taken by us in 2-4 weeks.”
