We remember, Papa!
Our team celebrated Alexander Gomelsky birthday traditionally – by visiting Vagankovskoe Cemetary and laying down the flowers to the monument of CSKA Honorary President.
In the flow of everyday doings it is very difficult to combine the schedules. That is why army team did not meet Gomelsky family members, his friends and allies. The players, coaches and staff were joined by Vasily Avramenko, Team USSR doctor, ‘88 Olympics winner, and Igor Piatigorsky, Gomelsky’s longtime friend, director of big Israeli hospital which cooperates with CSKA.
There wasn’t ceremonial speeches. The visitors covered the grave by the flowers and shared their memories. The Father of Soviet and Russian basketball could turn 83 today.
