David Andersen: Basketball is my life

The first player who answered fans questions in 2005 became newcomer of the army team center David Andersen. After one of the practices Australian player with Dutch passport told about his start in basketball, his dreams, wishes, etc…

When and how did you start your basketball career?

I started to play in Australia. My mother was the coach, so whole family like basketball. My first opponents and partners on the basketball court were my brothers, but only I moved to the professional sport.

What is the best age for start in basketball?

I started to play when I was 5. For me it was good age to start but not optimal for all other peoples.

Did you ever wanted to go to another sport?

In my childhood I also played in Australian football. It not like American football or soccer. But when I was 13 I understand that basketball is my favorite sport. Although my physical parameters (I was toll and slip) were good for basket.

How do you like to play in CSKA?

I am very glad to play in such professional team as CSKA is. We play together, spend our free time together. My moving to Moscow became easy, so I am really glad.

How do you like Moscow? Do you already have some favorite places here? May be some beautiful places or some restaurants?

It is very big and interesting city. I did not see much because of our schedule. I was on Red Square, it is really beautiful place. Usually I like to go some bars and restaurants in the center. Often I go to Maxima pizza.

What is favorite kitchen?

I spent 5 years in Italy and liked their kitchen very much.

Since you started your career, who was you best partner?

In my professional career I played in 3 teams. In Italy there were Marco Jaric, Rashard Griffith and Matjaz Smodis. In CSKA we have wonderful team and I can choose somebody.

Who are your best friends in the team? Whom with do you usually live on road games?

I have good relationships with all players. But most of all I communicate to Papaloukas, Brown, Holden and Granger. On road games I always share my number with Antonio, it is very interesting.

David, is it hard to play very far from your home? What can you say about Russian weather, our winter?

Yes, it is really hard to play far from my Australia. Everybody knows about Russian weather. This winter is not so cold as always. I received really interesting experience when we were in Siberia.

What do you think about Russian players?

As in all other countries Russia has really good players. They are very good physically.

What other sports do you like?

I like to play gold when I have time. Also I like to goes to the gym.

What is your favorite football team?

In Europe I like Italian Roma.

Are you going to learn Russian language? What Russian words do you already know?

Yes (he told it and next words on Russian). Hello, How are you, Beautiful (smiling).

What music do you like?

I like to listen different music from rock to RnB.

What are your favorite films?

I liked Matrix.

What is basketball for you?

Basketball is everything for me, it is my life, it is that I like to do.

If you will win Euroleague ULEB, what will be your next basketball target?

To play in NBA. I think that every professional player dreams about it.

What are you prefer to do in the flights?

To relax, sleep, read books, watching films.

What would you like to do after finish of basketball career?

I think I will return to Australia. May be several year I would just relax and don’t do anything. May be I will study, I don’t know yet.

Would you like your children to play basketball and why?

If they will play I will be happy. If not – no problem. They must make their choice their self.

What can you say about Russian fans and their support on the home and road games?

I can say that they are really support team good. Last time in Spain when we played against Tau two fans came from Russia. We heard how they crowd and support us, it was really very good.
