After trailing 23 points in the Euroleague final our team heroically shortened the gap to 2, but the last second shot by Siskauskas did not find the basket. Panathinaikos is a champion.

Panathinaikos vs. CSKA: 73-71

Ettore Messina:

“First of all, I would like to congratulate Panathinaikos and coach Obradovic. Also I want to thank my players – they did everything possible to transform this event into basketball game which we did not see in the first half. Our problems in the first half were arising because of the foul troubles of three our starters which caused misbalance in our game. At the same time Panathinaikos players shot with a very good percentage from a three point line. In the second half we were able to use our starters more and in the end the game was decided by small episodes. I want to express my respect to the players once again. When you are down by 20, you can put your hands down and think about getting back home sooner. But you can put your face to the troubles, you can put your name, your career to the stake and try to win. This is what the great club like CSKA is all about.”
