CSKA flew to Athens for the first game of 2009-10 Euroleague season to play against Maroussi on the floor of the same Olympic arena where the team played less than two weeks ago.

Transaero Boeing 737 with big CSKA logos on the sides landed in Greek capitol on 7.30 p.m. local time. The plane brought almost the same players which wore the uniform during the game against PAO. With one exclusion: team’s best scorer in two first games of the season Andrey Vorontsevich stayed at home with high temperature. Positive news: after medical examination on Monday the doctors allowed Alexander Kaun to practice with the team. It is probable that the center will play in the upcoming Russian League game against Enisey.

“This game will be the first official away game for us this season, so it will become special examination for us, - CSKA head coach Evgeny Pashutin said. It is always difficult to play in Greece. Maroussi will make its debut in Euroleague but the team demonstrated high level in the series against Alba Berlin playing tight defense and controlling the tempo. Moreover the Greek club has a long bench with 2-3 good players on each position. Our task is to stop their leaders at first and to play off the defense as we did in recent game vs Lokomotiv Kuban.”
