Having won Game 5 of the series against Ural-Great by a score of 91-64, CSKA became the Russian champion for the 10th time in the club’s history.

Today in the Aerostar hotel a presentation was given about an international coaching seminar to be held by the Yugoslav Basketball Coaches Association, or YUBAC) in Belgrade from July 27-29.

The second game in Perm was almost a replay of the first. CSKA took a big lead in the beginning, going up by 19 points at one time. But in the end everything came down to the only missed free-throw. CSKA won the game 73-77 and took a 3-1 lead heading into Game 5.

The third-place game is otherwise called the consolation final. That’s not exactly fair. Even a win in such a game offers only relative consolation. To be one step away from the top and miss it by three shots (the total of six points that the Army team lost by in two games is only three mid-range shots).

CSKA American center Victor Alexander was selected to the 2002-2003 All-Euroleague team. On the team, he joins guard Tyus Edney (Benetton) and Alfonso Ford (Montepaschi), as well as Dejan Bodiroga (Barcelona) and Jorge Garbajosa (Benetton). We congratulate him on this great accomplishment!

The Vdalimir Kondrashin - Alexander Belov St. Petersburg Fund for Basketball Development has invited PBC CSKA to become the organizer of the annual Alexander Belov Cup basketball tournament, which will take place on September 26-28 in honor of St. Petersburg’s 300-year anniversary.

Today, the CSKA Reserves played two games in the Barcelona youth tournament. In the first game, Alexander Ponomarenko’s players defeated Olimpija, and in the second they lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv in double overtime.

Dusan Ivkovic: "I think it was a very tough game. After a good start and a good transition game in the first quarter, we lost the lead, and in the fourth quarter, the most important period of the game, we didn’t play well and lost control of it."

According to our club president Alexander Gomelsky, the battle between the Army team and Barcelona was worthy of a final. Both of the teams’ fans – who packed the Palau Sant Jordi stadium – must think the same thing.

The CSKA junior team lost their first game in the junior tournament in Barcelona. CSKA got off to a tough start, losing the first quarter 22-10. The lead was enough for AEK's victory.

Yesterday evening during the team dinner the PBC CSKA club management, players and office staff wished Theodoros Papaloukas a happy birthday.

The pre-tournament press conference for the Euroleague Final Four was held today at 13.00 local time in Barcelona’s City Hall on the Placa Sant Jaume in central Barcelona across from the mayor of the Catalonian capital.

Barcelona Airport authorities have delayed CSKA’s flight to the Catalonian capital for at least three hours without explanation. According to sources, weather is not the reason. The Barcelona Airport is working as usual. The delay may force CSKA to cancel it’s evening practice in Barcelona.
